With October 13, 2015 release of Acrobat DC, you can now install Acrobat DC without removing the previous version (X or XI) of Acrobat.
While installing Acrobat DC, the Creative Cloud desktop application or Acrobat installer provides you an option to remove or keep the previous version of Acrobat. By default, the Remove old/previous versions option is selected. If you want to install Acrobat DC without removing the previous version of Acrobat, clear the checkbox.
However, if you have both Acrobat X/XI and DC installed on the same computer, some of the workflows and shared resources or preferences do not work with the previous version of Acrobat. They work fine with Acrobat DC.
As Abhigyan Modi already points out, take a look at the checklist. For the rest:. Acrobat DC sports an interface which looks a bit childish at first (all these large ribbons and panels with colorful icons), but which makes sense when using touch.
Blocked workflows from AX/XI when you have both X/XI and DC installed
All PDF creation workflows are blocked from Acrobat X/XI when Acrobat DC is installed. When you uninstall Acrobat DC, the workflows start working again from Acrobat X/XI.
What happens to the shared resources/preferences when you have both X/XI and DC installed?
- Only one Adobe PDF printer is available in co-existence environment, and that is of DC.
- PDFMakers and Web Capture add-ons are of Acrobat DC only.
- Files in 'C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAdobe' in Win-64bit and 'C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobe' in Win-32 bit systems that are not saved in version-specific folders are shared.
- Custom Job options are shared.
